About Us
HT&T Truck Center is the largest full service dealership for heavy and medium duty trucks serving customers in the State of Hawaii. Our facilities are located at 311A Pacific Street, Oahu.
HT&T is over fifty-eight years old and it has continually evolved as the State of Hawaii’s economy has changed. The company began in 1946 as Hilo Transportation and Terminal Company, which was a hauling company serving Hilo Hawaii. A tsunami hit the island of Hawaii on April 1, 1946, destroying all of the track, bridges and rolling stock used to haul sugar cane from the Hamakua Coast to Hilo Harbor. It was too costly to rebuild the rail system. Thus, from this need, HT&T was created to haul the sugar cane by truck as well as to carry goods to the rural areas affected by the tsunami. The company later expanded to sell truck parts and service as well.
For the first fifty-three years of its existence, HT&T Company was a division of C. Brewer and its successor companies. In 1984, the company opened a dealership in Waipahu, Oahu. The Hilo hauling operations were continued under BEI and eventually sold in 2003. In 1992 the dealership moved to the current location in Iwilei, Oahu, close to downtown Honolulu and Honolulu Harbor. HT&T Truck Center has been owned by a local investment group since 2002.
Today, HT&T Truck Center is a successful and well-known full service dealership and is the sole authorized dealer in Hawaii for the popular Peterbilt, Volvo and Autocar product lines. HT&T Truck Center Sales Department works with customers to identity the truck features that best meet their needs. The salesforce then arranges for trucks to be produced at the factory along with any required bodywork or transportation needs from the mainland to Hawaii.
HT&T Truck Center Service Department handles warranty, repair and service needs for its customers. The Parts Department carries a full complement of product lines at its warehouse in Iwilei. Parts Department offers delivery service, over the counter sales as well as an outside sales force.
